OnePlus is rolling out an interesting feature to its OnePlus 8, OnePlus 7, and even the new Nord series. The new feature notifies the users about the nearby charging stations whenever they are at the airport.
For this feature to be totally feasible, OnePlus has installed its own charging stations at the airport so that its compatible phones can recognize them and notify users. According to OnePlus’ forums, eligible OnePlus phones identify the beacons integrated into the charging stations and notify the users about them. The phones can also track how far a charging station is from and where is the closest station to you. Users can mute the service for 6 hours if they find the notifications too bothering.
This new feature is tailor-made for India and it is first available at Bangalore airport. OnePlus promises the new service will launch at Delhi airport as well.
Interestingly, the charging stations have WARP Charge 30 fast charging built-in through the USB ports. So, you just have to keep your red cables handy to get your phone charged.
OnePlus will activate this new service in all the aforementioned phones with help of an OxygenOS update. OnePlus promises the new service will come to the OnePlus 6 soon.
Users might feel this feature is inessential. But in reality, this feature could prove to be useful in many scenarios. For instance, travelers who are boarding a flight for the first have so much to do. They are already overwhelmed by the things they are already tackling, getting their luggage checked, looking into tickets, checking flight status, and so on. Nevertheless, the feature can come in pretty handy for anyone at the airport. A service that is notifying you that a charging station is in your vicinity is, in fact, pretty helpful and has no harm. And, above all, one can mute it anytime if they feel it unwanted.
Also, undoubtedly, this is one of the company’s targets to grab some attention for its branding.
